Captain's Day 2025
Yet another fantastic Captain’s Day at the Club.
For this year’s good cause the Club is supporting Cancer Research UK
The theme for the day was “VE Day”.

The day began with teas and coffee on arrival and then on to the ‘spider’ where everyone targets the centre of the Green with a single wood all at once, the nearest winning a bottle of Whiskey.
Lin Howell and Alan Dent won the 'Best Dressed competition' on the day.
It was also a great privilege to welcome back Bill Plank the very first Bradley Stoke Club Captain as a guest who was very close to his 99th birthday.
Then it was on to the main event of the day, namely the Open Drawn Four’s competition. To continue the VE Day’ theme for the day six teams named 'Army' ,'Navy',, 'Air Force', 'Land Army', 'Home Guard and 'Air Raid Wardens (ARP)' all vide for top spot.
During the day the normal tombola operated and at the end of proceedings a further raffle took place.
The great British weather, sunshine! allowed the day to proceeded without any delays. It remained hot and sunny into the afternoon after we had all sampled the excellent war time food extravaganza. No rationing today!
During the lunch the Club’s President, thanked everyone involved in supporting the day and also formally welcomed and thanked Bradley Stoke Mayor, Natalie Field, for attendance during the day. Natalie kindly presented the winners of the day, ‘ARP' with the Doreen & John Pope Cup and commiserated with the runners up ‘Land Army’.
Finally, the Club would also like to, once again, thank our friends and colleagues at the Bradley Stoke Activity Centre, namely, Bradley Stoke Cricket Club for supporting us with the bar facilities during the day.
The monies raised on the day will been finalized and our donation presented to Cancer Research UK at a later date.
